Installation considerations for lighted exterior signs
Installation of our lighted panel signs is easy using the included aluminum angle brackets that mount to the wall. Before you choose an exterior backlit sign, keep in mind that you’ll need an electrical junction behind the wall or in the ceiling above. We will provide the power supply (transformer) needed to power the low voltage LEDs. Also, adequate access will be needed in the ceiling and wall to run the wiring (Read more in FAQ) Backlighting adds a significant amount to the letter’s price and installation costs. Our illuminated exterior panel signs are available in a wide variety of options including:
Featuring a 2-3” deep fabricated aluminum panel, like a shoebox lid, it can be painted any solid color or left in a in a brushed aluminum finish with your logo applied in vinyl decal. This provides a highly dimensional, architectural look. The maximum size for a single piece is 3.5’ x 10’
If you don’t need lighting, cut (link to cut metal letters) or fabricated stainless steel letters (link to page) are mechanically assembled to the panel using spacers to float the letters to the panel. The letters cast a shadow on the panel for additional dimension and depth.
Similar to our other fabricated panels, this option features letters cut out of the face and a translucent acrylic backer in your colors. Low voltage LEDs assembled inside light up the cut-out letters. The maximum size for a single piece is 3.5’ x 10’. This is our most cost-effective exterior lighted sign.
For an added dimensional effect, the letters and logo can be be cut out of the face and then raised acrylic letters push through the face. It’s completed with a translucent acrylic backer in your colors. Low voltage LEDs assembled inside light up the push thru acrylic letters. The maximum size for a single piece is 3.5’ x 10’.
Fabricated stainless steel letters are assembled to float off the panel. They have lexan backs and LED lights assembled inside for a sophisticated halo effect backlighting onto the panel. The maximum size for a single piece is 3.5’ x 10’.
Like the backlit option above, these signs also have an acrylic translucent illuminated face in addition to the halo backlighting for a bright, stunning effect. The maximum size for a single piece is 3.5’ x 10’.

How do I know if I can install individual backlit letters? What requirements are there?
You will need access behind the wall where the letters are mounted. A wire needs to come inside the wall, behind each letter. You need access to be able to go inside and connect all the wires to an electrical junction in the location behind the sign. In short, you need access and be able to drill through the wall to push the wire in without obstruction. If this is not possible in your wall or building, consider either mounting the letters to a panel or not backlighting your signs.
